Spring Fashion Report

Spring is fast approaching and you know what that means new fashion trends!!!! I am extremely excited about shopping this season after seeing the fashion and make up trends exhbibited during the fashion weeks. Here's some of the things me and my gems liked the best.
Clothing
Punk rock fashion still reigns. Skinny jeans, graphic tees, spiked heels, and flannel shirts are still in. My favorite punk rock trend is the dark black eyeliner. Here's a cute little tutorial on How To Dress Punk Rock CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE TUTORIAL

Biker clothing is extremely hot this season. Lots of leather( or pleather for my PETA girls) jackets, gloves, vest, and boots. I think it's fun sometimes to channel your inner biker chick especially in fashion. Try a plain white tee under a leather vest paired with light blue jeans and leather boots with plenty of straps and buckles. Throw in a couple pieces of studded jewelry for that true road warrior look.

Burberry Trench
For the chilly days trench coats are the bomb.com. Burberry is killing it with their trenches with the studs on the arms and shoulders.....
Haute!!!!

It seems like all of the fashion trends from way back when are coming back. Crocheted tops and skirts are becoming increasingly popular amongst the bohemian's and wide leg pants with high waist are becoming a trend for the more sophisticated dresser. Me I switch my style everyday so I must invest in them all. Check out the crocheted tops from my fashion line ICSY Beautiful at http://www.icsybeautiful.com./

Alberta Ferretti
Spring 2011
I'm also loving that japanese inspired clothing has popped back on the scene. Now I'm not trying to see you divas out here in the full kimonos with geisha buns and pale make up on your faces. A simple yet elegant kimono inspired top with a skirt made of some type of flowy fabric like the one by Alberta Ferretti to the left will keep you in style for spring 2011.
Another fashion trend that I absolutely love are these amazingly sexy trench dresses. With the right accessories and make up you can take them from a day at work, to lunch and shopping with the girls, and then an evening with the one you love (or love to be with). But if you are just looking for a sexy but suttle outfit for a night out I am feeling the sheer over lace. Try maybe a sheer blouse over  a lace lined corset with jeans or leggings if you dare and those infamous CFM boots... we all have them!

Giambattista Valli
For patterns textile designers are really giving us a reason to reach into our over-sized bags and spend! Funky prints are the rage this season along with bold neon colors and suttle desert solors. But of course spring can't be spring without floral prints.

Accessories
Of course if you know me at all you will know that I live for the accessory. I truly believe with every part of my fashionista soul that accessories willl make or break your outfit. A plain jean and fitted white tee can be club ready with the right accessory and for this spring 2011 that is almost every accessory designers objective.
This season you are going to see plenty of tassles from shoes to purses to earrings. Oversized bling is also a trend this season. Channel your inner rap star with this vintage Chanel chain my fellow blogger irokfashion.com put me on. Preppy accessories were also very popular amongst the fashion week runways so expect to see plent of boat shoes, smart leather bags, and pearls. Christian Louboutin also is coming full force with the clutches decorated with spikes and chains and studs...oh my!!! Be sure to check out http://www.icsybeautiful.com/ for your custom accessory needs.

Guess who crept back in our lives. The wedge heel and she brought her sister the vlog to visit. Now clogs I'm not too excited for but the wedge is made for divas all over. It gives you height, comfort, and sophistication all in one cute little wedge heel. Welcome back my love.
CUTE!!
Wedge open toe booties.

Not your typical wedge...interesting though.

Makeup
As a make up artist I know how important it is to have the perfect make up with the perfect outfit and this spring you should have no problems pulling it off.
Mary Kay has definetly stepped their game up with their make up making them not only the number one cosmetic line but also a contender in the make up game visit www.marykay.com/imaginebeauty for the latest additions to their collection. You can also check out the Mary kay Trend Report for their fashion predictions and make up tips.
MAC also has some amazing additions to its line. Keeping up with the pink lip trend they have added Pink Nouveau lipstick to the collection. I also love the new denim palletes they have available, could have something to do with my obsession with denim. And the name fits it so well because it is Jeanius. Visit mac.com to check out these new hits!

If you are the type of bold chick who rocks the red lipstick then here's an amazing variation to your killer style, orange lipstick was seen all over the fashion week runways this past February and you know what I absolutely love it! I tried it on a few of my clients and here's a tip...if you are going to wear orange lipstick then keep the rest of the make up on your face to a minimum. Send me an email of you have any make up questions @ mzknowitallblog@yahoo.com .

Live at the Soul Train Awards

Okay so obviously I'm not at the Soul Train Awards this year for many reasons, but I am blogging during the awards so here is a minute by minute update for you all.
See pictures from the Soul Train Music Awards on my sister site http://www.truelinkmagazine.com/ .

R Kelly opened the show with a few of his classic tracks ranging from "Bump and Grind" to "When a Woman's Fed Up" performed in front of a live band before playing his new hit"When a Woman Loves". He was dapper in a classic tuxedo with a red pocket puff.
Anyone who was questioning whether or not he still had the classic R Kelly flavor definetly has an answer now. To top off his performance he performed the original version of the 1950's hit "When a Woman Loves A Man" by Percy Sledge with dancers dressed in poodle skirts and varsity sweaters.

(Sidenote Tom Joyner totally butchered Kid Cudi's name. #I'm Just Saying)

Taraji P Henson and Terrance Howard hit the stage with their amazing chemistry, hailing each other with compliments. Taraji transformed her vibrant personality into a "wicked" witch onstage and cast a spell on Terrance while tripping over her long elegant gown. But no worries, Terrance was only banished to the back of the audience. The two got a little competitive after that challenging each other to a dance competition.

See pictures of the duo at www.truelinkmagazine.com

Raven Simone looked radiant as she helped present the Soul Train Award for " Song of the Year" which went to B.O.B for "Nothing On You featuring Bruno Mars. Unfortunately B.O.B was unable to attend but Bruno Mars accepted for the both of them.
See pictures of Raven Simone at http://www.truelinkmagazine.com/

Terrance and Taraji hit the stage once again in their dancing gear and their back up dancers. Taraji killed it dancing to 'Whip My Hair" while Terrance did the stanky leg, but they both broke it down to Luda's "How Low".
See these hilarious photos at http://www.truelinkmagazine.com/
(Side note these commercials for "The Game" are really making me wish January would just get here.)

Neyo set a smooth tone with his performance of in his usual suit while paying homage to Michael Jackson with the white socks and a few classic MJ moves.

(Side note Why did Terrance Howard have a television remote in his hand when he announced Michael Baisden to the audience?)

We got an in-depth glance at the woman behind the voice as we watched Anita Baker reflect on her life as a true diva and musical genius. Mary J Blige payed homage to Anita Baker through a brief video tribute which was followed by Chrisette Michelle, Tamia, Goapele, Faith Evans, and Kem accompanied by Rachelle Ferrell on the piano channeling some of Miss Baker's energy while performing a few of her classic hits. While giving her speech she said her "highest honor" was the fact that all of the music that was performed was life, un-edited, and with a live band. El DeBarge hit the stage with his Anita Baker tribute following her speech while she danced onstage to her own song.

(Sidenote Genuine and Sole looked amazing together as usual.)

Eric Benet shocked us with a short performance of his new single "Sometimes I Cry".

And the award for best new artist goes to....Melanie Fiona who by so many's suprise beat artist like Nicki Minaj and B.O.B! I mean that was a well deserved shocker!!!!

Erykah  Badu's performance was truly art. I mean there are really no words for it as usual with Ms. Badu.

OMG....Wolf Blitzer learns the "Dougie" from Doug E Fresh and right after accepts an award on Eminem's behalf...only on the Soul  Train Awards.

(Sidenote that was a lame commercial for Usher's cologne I mean come on now, what was that? #Imjustsaying)

So back from the commercial break and we have the black character (so what if I don't know his name) from Family Guy announcing Cee Lo. Though we weren't really sure when the animation ended and the performance began, we definetly enjoyed Cee Lo's set.

I am definetly digging these blast from the past with a semi-performance from Tank. Look out his new single 'Emergency" and expect his album sometime in March. SWV was also fly, fabulous, and fancy while announcing Jasmine Sullivan's arrival to the stage. And oh did she blow us away with her soulful voice with a little help from Doug E. Fresh. What an honor to have a rap pioneer beat box during your BET performance. Check out her new album Back to Me.

The winner of the Centric award is Janelle Monae with her bad self.

Mr. Ron Isley takes home the award for the Toyota Soul Train Legend Award. He spoke about some of his greatest influences, collaborating with R. Kelly, and his new little baby Ronald Jr. He even graced us with a "spontaneous" performance. Which included a our favorite Mr. Big classic "Contagious" and R Kelly had to drop by for that one. The night ended with Mr. Big and Cee Lo performing "Shout".
