Comcast NBC Merger: The Death of The Peacock


Correct me if I'm wrong but back in the last century, it used to be against the law to have a monopoly in business. "The Sherman Antitrust Act, passed in 1890, declared that no person or business could monopolize trade or could combine or conspire with someone else to restrict trade" and
"In 1914, Congress passed two more laws designed to bolster the Sherman Antitrust Act: the Clayton Antitrust Act and the Federal Trade Commission Act. The Clayton Antitrust Act defined more clearly what constituted illegal restraint of trade. With the merger of Comcast and NBC troubling issues arise regarding net neutrality, censorship of news information due to corporations and advertisers relationships as well as how information is sent and the speed.
Time will tell what kind of changes the cable company Comcast will impose on NBC and its effects. One thing that will end is the symbol of the Peacock as the main focal point on the company. According to reports, the Peacock will be replaced by NBCUniversal for the Corporate Logo and the peacock will be used for broadcast TV logos such as in the photo above.
